Lingoo 1.1

Harness the power of Google Translate on your desktop

  • Based on Google Translate
  • Various window options

  • Still have to cut and paste
  • Some problems when reversing language pairs

Lingoo is a desktop translation app for Mac that will allow you to translate between a huge variety of languages.

Like lots of translation apps these days, Lingoo is based on Google Translate. On one hand, that means there’s a solid, reliable translation service backing it up, and a great (50 +) selection of languages.

The Lingoo interface is clean and clear, with various views available. Just call up the app with a keyboard shortcut and paste in the text you want translated. You can also set Lingoo to monitor the keyboard.

On the other hand, machine translation isn’t perfect, and remember that you’ll still have to copy and paste your texts in the Lingoo. That’s not a huge problem, and some users will appreciate the ease of having the service handy when they are not online.

Lingoo’s far from revolutionary, but it’s still a nice way to access Google Translate from your desktop.
